2014 Sleepers

  • Dak Prescott, Mississippi State—The Bulldogs return a bevy of starters on both sides of the ball and Prescott is capable of putting the offense on his shoulders.  However, the junior quarterback will have a deep and talented receiving corps, led by big-play receiver Jameon Lewis, to help lighten the load.  Aside from road games at Alabama and LSU, the SEC slate is very manageable.

  • Leon Allen, Western Kentucky—Bobby Petrino may have departed for Louisville, but Jeff Brohm was promoted to head coach and should run the same system that made Antonio Andrews an elite fantasy back last year.  Allen is not Antonio Andrews, but the junior back has shown the potential to run the ball with authority and has proven himself capable in the passing game.  There is enough experience returning on the offensive line to project Allen as a solid fantasy option in 2014.

  • Tyreek Hill, Oklahoma State—How do you complement running back Desmond Roland and make up for the loss of versatile Josh Stewart?  Recruit a playmaker out of the junior college ranks that has blazing speed.  The challenge for OSU coaches is figuring out where on the field to get the incoming junior his touches.  Hill was utilized as a slot receiver at the onset of spring and then eventually worked at running back.  Regardless of where Hill will lineup in the fall, Gundy has already stated that he’d like to get him 10-15 touches per game and that was all we needed to hear.
