Joe's Weekly Notes & Observations

Week 10

Hey guys, just wanted to let you know that I have decided to continue to send out the Weekly Notes & Observations via email.  I will not have them published on the website until Tuesday to allow you to have a slight competitive edge when it comes to insight regarding waiver wire decisions.
I will likely be sending out an email in the coming weeks about organizing a CFF Bowl League or two and information about our 2017 Bowl Season Fantasy & Preview Guide.  I may also have some additional information on theCFFsite t-shirts many of you have inquired about.

Power 5 +ND
  • For some of you out there that submitted many lineup emails, I completely undervalued Utah RB Zack Moss against UCLA.
  • Watching a little bit of Florida @ Missouri, the Gators have thrown in the towel.
  • I don’t like to start players that are a game-time decision unless you are in a pinch.  Based on my philosophy, I would have probably benched Wisconsin RB Jonathan Taylor.  A tip of the cap to those of you that started him against Indiana.
  • Mississippi State QB Nick Fitzgerald has rushed for at least 100 yards and two TDs in three of the past four games.
  • Auburn WR Ryan Davis has at least 60 yards receiving in four consecutive games.
  • Texas A&M RB Trayveon Williams topped the 100-yard mark for the first time since the season opener.
  • NC State WR Kelvin  Harmon has topped the 100-yard mark in three of the last four games after three consecutive games of failing to reach the 40-yard mark.
  • Clemson WR Deon Cain has now caught a TD pass in three of his last four games.
  • Clemson RB Gus Edwards has scored at least one TD in five of his last six games.
  • West Virginia WR Davis Sills has caught a TD pass in seven of nine games this year.  Of the seven games in which he has scored, Saturday was the first time Sills did not have a multiple-TD game.  He has scored at least 2 TDs in 6 of 9 games.
  • Nebraska has gone four consecutive games without a rushing touchdown.
  • Wake Forest RB Matt Colburn has back-to-back 100-yard games.  It seems as if WRs Scotty Washington and Alex Bachman will fill the void left by Greg Dortch.
  • Fantasy owners must put in a bid for Oklahoma WR Marquise Brown if he is still available in your league.  QB Baker Mayfield closed the gap in the Heisman race, which seems like a two-man race right now.  Over the last three weeks, RB Rodney Anderson has totaled 517 yards of offense and scored five touchdowns.
  • Ole Miss QB Jordan Ta’amu has thrown for at least 350 yards in both of his starts since replacing Shea Patterson and has a nice Week 11 matchup against UL Lafayette.
  • Kentucky RB Benny Snell has scored three rushing TDs in back-to-back games and has four multiple-TD games this year.
  • With 13 minutes to play and down by 13 at home to Coastal Carolina, I was thinking Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema would be fired Saturday night.  The Hogs rallied for a 39-38 win, but I believe change is still coming in Fayetteville soon.
  • Michigan RB Karan Higdon has now scored 8 TDs in the past four games and has eclipsed 150 yards rushing in three of the last four games.
  • Arizona State WR Kyle Williams has caught at least six passes in four straight games and has scored in back-to-back games.
  • I have been following this for a while, but Oregon RB Royce Freeman has played six consecutive games without scoring a touchdown.  He has rushed for at least 120 yards in four consecutive without scoring a touchdown and has carried the ball over 100 times since he last found the endzone.
  • Washington RB Myles Gaskin has scored at least one touchdown in all but one game this season.  WR Dante Pettis caught his first touchdown pass since the Huskies’ September 30th game at Oregon State.
  • Ronald Jones has 450 yards from scrimmage and 5 TDs over the past two games, his best two-game fantasy stretch since the first two games of the season when he totaled 304 yards and 5 TDs
G5 + Indep.
  • Toledo WR Diontae Johnson disappeared for a few weeks, but seems to be reemerging just in time for the fantasy playoffs.  QB Logan Woodside has thrown 3 or more TD passes in a game four times this year.   However, he has failed to throw at least one TD pass in four games this year, including last week’s game against Northern Illinois.
  • Bowling Green RB Andrew Clair has topped the 100-yard rushing mark in four consecutive games.
  • Ohio QB Nathan Rourke has accounted for at least three TDs in five consecutive games.  RB AJ Ouellette has reached the 80-yard rushing mark in six of the past seven games.
  • Miami (OH) WR James Gardner has five 100-yard receiving games this season.  He caught ten passes against Ohio and that was the first time he caught more than five passes in a game since the season opener at Marshall.
  • Central Michigan RB Jonathan Ward has now scored at least one TD in three of the past four games.
  • Western Michigna RB Jarvion Franklin has carried the ball at least 24 times in four consecutive games and has scored seven TDs in that stretch.
  • Navy QB Zach Abey was held under 100 yards rushing for the first time this season and failed to score a rushing TD for the first time since the season opener against Tulane.
  • Temple WR Adonis Jennings has caught a TD pass in three of his last four games.
  • Idaho WR Alfonso Onunwor has totaled at least 79 receiving yards and a TD in five of his last seven games.
  • Marshall RB Tyler King has rushed for at least 70 yards in all but one game this season.
  • Houston QB D’Eriq King rewarded fantasy owners that grabbed him off of waivers last week and started him against ECU.
  • Appalachian State WR Ike Lewis has at least 87 yards receiving in four consecutive games and has scored six TDs in those four games.
  • Rice WR Aaron Cephus has caught a TD pass in four consecutive games.
  • UAB RB Spencer Brown has rushed for at least 140 yards in four of his last five games.
  • Louisiana Tech RB Boston Scott has scored a rushing TD in four of his last five games.
  • Army QB Ahmad Bradshaw did not attempt a single pass in Army’s 21-0 win at Air Force.  Air Force QB Arion Worthman failed to account for a single touchdown for the first time in a game this season and was held to less than 60 yards rushing for the first time since the Falcons’ season-opening 62-0 win over VMI.
  • South Florida WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling has been one of the nation’s most productive receivers over the past two weeks, catching 16 passes for 338 yards and a TD.
  • Colorado State RB Dalyn Dawkins has rushed for at least 120 yards in five of his last six games.
  • Nevada RB Kelton Moore was on my Bench list, but he topped 100 yards and scored a TD at Boise State.  It was Moore’s third 100-yard effort in the last four games and he has scored a TD in four consecutive games.
  • Boise State RB Alexander Mattison has now scored a TD in 4 of his last 5 games and WR Cedrick Wilosn has caught a TD pass in three straight games.
  • FIU WR Thomas Owens failed to reach the 100-yard receiving mark for a fifth consecutive game, but he’s now caught a TD pass in four of his last five games.
  • Middle Tennessee QB Brent Stockstill returned and threw three TD passes.  Stock up, WR Ty Lee.
  • I mentioned on last week’s show that this could be a productive week for both San Diego State RBs Rashaad Penny and Juwan Washington.  Penny ran for 234 yards and 3 TDs and Washington ran for 134 yards and 2 TDs.
  • Every team in the FBS has at least 5 offensive rushing TDs except for San Jose State, who have 1 rushing TD in 2017.  Their only rushing TD was against an FCS school, Cal Poly, which means they do not have a rushing TD against an FBS school.
  • Fresno State RB Jordan Mims has scored two TDs in back-to-back games.
